Your accounting expertise.
A new source of revenue.

Explore the potential in your firm’s processes, templates and practical know-how.

The work you know.
A new source of value.

Accounting workflows, reporting methods and training examples your firm owns could support AI development. A licence depends on buyer interest, the quality of the material and your right to share it.

How it works

The knowledge
behind the work.

A few examples to explore.

  • Month-end processes

Close checklists, reconciliation methods and the steps behind a reviewed set of accounts.

  • Reporting know-how

Firm-authored templates, forecasting methods and notes that explain how a report comes together.

  • Training & review

Internal training examples and quality checks that capture the reasoning behind the result.

Your expertise. Your clients’ trust.

Begin with materials your firm owns and is authorised to license. Client accounts, tax returns, audit files and identifying information need a separate confidentiality, permissions and data-protection review. Removing a name alone does not make a record safe to share.

ICAEW guidance on client confidentiality

Your questions.
Answered.

Can a small accounting practice take part?

Potentially. The first discussion is about what your practice owns, how the records explain real work and whether there is a suitable buyer requirement. Firm size alone does not establish value.

Would I need to export my clients’ Xero or QuickBooks accounts?

No export is needed to make an enquiry. Start with a description of the records and systems you use. Client financial data should not be supplied until the relevant rights, confidentiality obligations and scope have been reviewed.

How much could my firm earn from licensing its data?

There is no reliable fixed price based on turnover or the software you use. The scope, usefulness, preparation required, licence terms and an actual buyer’s interest determine whether there is an offer.

Can we continue using our own templates?

The proposed licence must say what is being licensed, who can use it and on what terms. Continued use, exclusivity and ownership should be settled before your firm agrees to a partnership.
