Friend Forfeit is a focus timer operated by KREYD LABS LTD. You choose a task, agree an early-ending forfeit, and may invite one friend to share the commitment. This policy explains what the app handles, why it is handled, and the choices available to you.
Who controls the information
KREYD LABS LTD is responsible for Friend Forfeit. For privacy questions, access requests or deletion help, email support@kreydlabs.com.
Information we handle
Account and identity
If you sign in, Clerk’s native authentication flow handles an account identity and the email address and name you provide. We use that information to keep your account signed in, identify you to a friend, and associate your commitments with the right account.
Clerk also processes sign-in device identifiers, device and app information, IP addresses, and approximate city/country derived from the IP address to manage and secure account sessions. This does not use GPS or request device location permission. Shared session activity, including start/end times, interruptions and outcomes, is stored to maintain the commitment record.
Friendships and commitments
The Convex backend in the European Union stores the information needed for shared accountability: friend links, accepted commitments, task and forfeit terms, immutable session events, ledger records, disputes and reports. A shared commitment can show its relevant task, timing, agreed forfeit and outcome to the participants who need that information to accept or review it.
The ledger records a monetary forfeit as an accountability entry only. Friend Forfeit does not collect, hold or transfer that money.
On-device timer and app-selection data
Timer operation, local session state and settings are kept on your device so a session can recover after an interruption. When you use Focus Block, FamilyControls app-selection tokens stay on the device and are not sent to the backend. We do not receive the names of the apps you select for blocking.
Purchases
Apple processes Friend Forfeit purchases through StoreKit. The app receives the product and entitlement status needed to unlock or restore Plus features. We do not receive your payment card number or billing details. Apple manages subscription billing and cancellation.
How information is used
We use information to:
- Provide sign-in, friendships and shared commitments.
- Keep accepted terms and session outcomes consistent for participants.
- Record disputes, reports and ledger events without silently rewriting the original result.
- Recover local timer state and provide the app’s focus features.
- Check Plus entitlement and respond to support requests.
Why we can use information
We process account and commitment information to provide the service you request. We also use information for our legitimate interests in preventing misuse, resolving disputes and supporting users. Optional device permissions can be withdrawn in iOS Settings.
Services we use
Clerk provides native authentication. Convex provides the EU backend for account-linked accountability data. Apple provides App Store payment and subscription services. These services process information to provide their part of Friend Forfeit.
Advertising and tracking
Friend Forfeit has no ads and does not track you across apps or websites. Clerk telemetry is disabled in the Friend Forfeit app configuration. We do not sell personal information or use data brokers for advertising.
Retention and account deletion
You can start account deletion from Settings in the app. The request locks the account while the deletion process removes the identity and pseudonymizes account-linked data needed to preserve the history of a shared obligation. Shared records are retained for no more than 90 days after the request and then deleted by a scheduled cleanup.
If you cannot access Settings, email support@kreydlabs.com from the account email where possible. We will use reasonable account checks before processing the request.
Your choices
You can manage account deletion in Settings, control Family Controls and notification permissions in iOS, and manage or cancel Apple subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings. You can also contact us about the information associated with your account.
Your information rights
Depending on the applicable law and the reason for processing, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of your information, and object to processing. Contact support to exercise these rights. Corrections to shared outcomes are recorded transparently so participants can understand what changed.
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaintor to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Friend Forfeit or its data handling changes. The date above shows when this version was last updated.
